The speed at which an economy zero turn mower operates is comparable to a traditional lawn tractor. Many of them utilize the same engines, cutting decks, etc. As their traditional brethren. This means that it will take you roughly the same amount of time to cut your lawn, so don't expect to be zooming around your home.

No comment on the turning side (never looked) but I agree with this assessment otherwise. I'm in between hobby and pro. I do pro shit at work with NX, so I'm familiar with professional standards/expectations, but I use Fusion360 at home for hobby shit. I'm good with it for 3 axis VMC work. If I were doing 4th axis work that was just 3axis work at different positions, and not true 4th axis milling, it'd be similarly workable but that's really not much of anything beyond 3axis anyways. 3.5axis so to speak. 3+1 axis or something.Originally Posted by Zahnrad KopfI guess I will be the voice of dissent. If one is looking for hobbyist software it is great. If you are only needing 3 axis machining, it is pretty darn good for the price. If you need anything past that, either CAD beyond a basic level, or 4th axis ( or even 5th axis ) capability, then I think it is fairly thorough crap and nowhere near prime time, much less worth paying for such and you should look elsewhere to satisfy your needs. And none of that even addresses turning, which is equally functional as 4 axis toolpathing. Actually, it might be better than 4axis... which is not to say much good at all...
Anyways... I do like that Autodesk (having the big pockets they do) is growing into this sector and showing a different color than they did to the AEC sector with their tired old products and customer support / response. I hope they become good competition to Solidworks and their partners. - Hot Rolled

Where does one get the free for small companies version I keep hearing about? All I could find was the 30 day trial. I want it for hobby use with my grandson.

Apparently you don't have to wait thirty days. Right click on the 'days remaining' window and you have the option of extending as a hobbyist for a year.Originally Posted by m98custom1212once your 30 days are up.. you just register the software for hobbyist use
My question is, when will this free business end? - csharpStainless

When they feel they have sufficiently hooked enough users that can't walk away.

No one but Autodesk can say for sure but in a press release they plan on honoring the student and light commmerical licenses since that's what F360 was built on. They came out after onshape decided to cut private documents for all the Free plans and you had to upgrade to the pro license if still wanted private documentsOriginally Posted by DougApparently you don't have to wait thirty days. By the way, Fusion drawings mode just improved a bit with the latest update. Now it does ordinate dimensioning, which helps a lot with finger-camming code or driving a mill with a DRO. They also added the capability of having multiple sheets in a drawing.

We also use nx at work and it is also useful since I'm a linux user. Some toolpaths works way better with nx, but it is a fat pig to work with and i,ve come to hate it. I have to boot windows to use fusion but as long as it is not more that 360 degree mill turning or a true 4th axis milling, fusion works very well. Toolpaths in advanced geometries leaves much to be desired and non circular shapes should be milled with true 4th axis machining and fusion cant do that, you have to index. That blows.
